LUCKNOW: Deputy chief minister of UP, Brijesh Pathak’s suggestion to people to not chase jobs but, instead, pursue self-employment, like driving an e-rickshaw or a taxi, has sparked a debate six days after he said so.It was at the launch of the Bharat Taxi in Lucknow, on Sep 23, that Pathak said that one can drive a taxi for four hours and then come back home to spend two hours with the kids and family.“Is that possible while doing a job for someone else?”, he said.To make it further convenient, one can pick the last ride to a location close to one’s home. “You may always come back home, sleep for two hours and then again go back working and picking rides,” said the deputy CM.He also commented, “Paradhin sapnehu such nahin”, which means someone who is dependent on others is not happy.His comments have drawn wide criticism from opposition parties and social media users.
