Kanpur: Independent MP from Bihar’s Purnia Pappu Yadav on Friday demanded an independent judicial inquiry under the supervision of the Supreme Court into alleged financial irregularities linked to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.Addressing a news conference, he said Lord Ram is a symbol of faith for crores of people, and the country should get answers to questions raised over the use of donations and offerings given by devotees for temple construction.He alleged that the resignation of the trust’s general secretary, Champat Rai, and trustee Anil Mishra, along with scrutiny of expenditure on major events and allegations against the trust’s top office-bearers, raised serious questions. He asked that if no irregularities had occurred, why was an independent inquiry being avoided.
