Amravati: A 10-year-old girl is fighting for her life in ICU after being brutally mauled by stray dogs near Sai Hospital in Rukmini Nagar, Amravati, on Thursday.Sanidi Sachin Kaware, daughter of a private driver, was attacked while in the locality. The stray dogs bit her face repeatedly, leaving her facially disfigured and in a critical condition. She was rushed to hospital and is currently under intensive care.Gory photos of the injured child went viral, sparking massive outrage against the Amravati Municipal Corporation.Corporator Anil Agrawal blamed the AMC directly. “How many more innocent girls does the administration need to see mauled?” he asked. “This happened because the Veterinary Department failed to control stray dogs.”Agrawal said he had earlier exposed lapses in the department during an AMC general body meeting. Days later, Dr. Sachin Bondre, in-charge Veterinary Officer, was arrested by ACB for allegedly demanding a Rs 25 lakh bribe to clear a Rs 47 crore sterilization bill.Despite the scandal, residents say the AMC has not restarted the stalled dog sterilization contract. Stray dogs continue to terrorize neighborhoods.Agrawal has demanded the Mayor and Commissioner bear Sanidi’s full medical expenses. The attack has once again put Amravati’s growing stray dog menace and civic apathy under the spotlight.
