Lucknow: Doctors warned that uncontrolled high blood pressure can increase the risk of heart attack, brain stroke and kidney disease, stressing the need for regular check-ups and continuous treatment.Cardiologist Dr RK Saran said many people assume their blood pressure is normal if they feel healthy, but persistent high BP can silently damage the body over time. He was speaking at an awareness programme at Medanta hospital on Tuesday.He warned that many patients stop medicines once BP becomes normal, which can be dangerous. He stressed that hypertension usually requires long-term treatment and monitoring.Another cardiologist at the hospital, Dr SK Dwivedi advised reducing salt intake, avoiding oily food, exercising regularly and getting routine BP check-ups, especially after the age of 40. Doctors said uncontrolled hypertension over time can damage the heart, brain, kidneys and even eyesight.
