Madikeri: Former chief minister of Tamil Nadu and DMK chief MK Stalin and his son, opposition leader Udayanidhi Stalin, and their family left Kodagu safely under tight security on Monday amid fear of protests by Hindu activists in Kushalnagar.As per Stalin’s programme list, he and his family were staying at Leela Palace, a resort at Moduru near Madikeri, for the last four days. They were to return to Tamil Nadu on Monday via Kushalnagar.Pro-Hindu activists, who learnt about Stalin’s visit, planned to stop Stalin’s convoy and protest by wearing black bands near Kushalnagar on Monday. The protest was being planned at Guddehosuru near Kushalnagar as they wanted to express their angst over Stalin ‘insulting’ Sanathana Dharma.However, police who learnt about the protest immediately deployed additional force in Kushalnagar. Since morning, tight security was provided in the town and its surroundings on the Madikeri-Kushalnagar highway even as the District Armed Police were deployed.However, learning about the protest, Stalin and his family left Madikeri with security via Siddapura Road. Instead of the planned travel from Madikeri to Mysuru via Kushalnagar, the DMK chief’s family left the district via Siddapura and reached Periyapatna, confirmed sources.Hindu activists, shouted slogans against Stalin and protested in front of the Ganapathi Temple in Kushalnagar.Meanwhile, Stalin’s son-in-law, V Sabareesan, was seen playing golf at the Mercara Downs Golf Club along with his friends, according to sources.
