Prayagraj: In view of the rising water level of twin rivers and subsequent flood like situation, District Magistrate (Prayagraj) Manish Kumar Verma on Monday inspected the Bakshi Bund STP and Nagvasuki road to check the rising water levels. He instructed officials from departments concerned to ensure all necessary flood-related arrangements should be in place on time and directed the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (Sadar) to oversee the timely implementation of the measures.He said that no populated areas have been affected by the floods so far but confirmed that an alert has been issued for riverside areas. An NDRF team is actively patrolling and monitoring the situation, and all relief camps are operational. He appealed to the public to relocate to flood relief camps in case water levels rise significantly. Continuous monitoring of the flood situation in rural areas is also being maintained.Verma also emphasized the need to ensure the provision of quality food, water, lighting, medicines, and other essentials at the relief camps. He directed the officials of Prayagraj Municipal Corporation to handle sanitation in urban areas and the Panchayati Raj department to do the same in rural areas. Instructions were also issued for the spraying of disinfectants, and a health department team has been deployed. Adequate arrangements for boats have been made.Subsequently, the District Magistrate inspected the sewer cleaning and choke-point clearance operations near the Sangam Petrol Pump in Georgetown and issued necessary directives to Municipal Corporation officials.
