Mangaluru: Department of posts, Mangaluru Division, will launch the revamped Srinivasnagar Sub Post Office, redesigned as a state-of-the-art ‘New Gen’ (N-Gen) post office, Monday.Located on the NITK Surathkal campus, the facility is aimed at the youth and academic community. It will be the fourth N-Gen post office in the state, after those at Acharya Institute of Technology in Bengaluru, GITAM University Bengaluru and UAS University, Raichur, and the first in the Mangaluru Division and the South Karnataka Postal Region. The revamp seeks to demonstrate that the 170-year-old legacy of India Post can integrate with students’ digital-first lifestyle.Moving away from the traditional ‘counter-only’ format, the post office has been converted into a multi-functional space with free high-speed Wi-Fi, a self-booking kiosk, a modern writing ledge, a relaxation lobby and a library corner. It will also offer complimentary coffee and tea, a water dispenser, a dedicated game zone, and a selfie point featuring a high-five mural between a traditional post box and a Gen-Z student.By bringing N-Gen services to the NITK campus, the department of posts aims to position the post office as a “cool” space for students to brainstorm, study and connect, while accessing postal and financial services.
