Nagpur: The state govt granted administrative approval of Rs2 crore for the development of a District Data Portal (DDP) under MahaSTRIDE programme, aimed at enabling systematic tracking of Gross District Domestic Product (GDDP), employment outcomes and sector-wise economic performance across all districts in the state.The proposed portal will function as a centralised digital platform, bringing together key district-level data to support evidence-based planning and monitoring. As per the official notification, the DDP will generate analytical insights on fund flows linked to district strategic plans and assess outcomes such as GDDP growth and job creation, which are currently spread across multiple datasets and departments.The portal will aggregate data from recognised national and state sources, including Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS), Annual Survey of Unincorporated Sector Enterprises (ASUSE) and Statistical Business Register. This integrated approach is expected to help district administrations track economic activity, employment trends and sector-wise contributions in a more structured manner. The approval was issued by the state planning department through a recent govt resolution (GR).A major focus of DDP will be monitoring sectoral and sub-sectoral Gross District Value Added (GDVA), mapping private sector investments and employment generation in line with district development strategies. The platform will also track the utilisation of funds and outcomes of district strategic plans, enabling officials to assess whether public spending is translating into measurable economic and employment gains.In addition, the GR states that the portal will support monitoring of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through a district-level indicator framework. This is expected to help identify gaps in social and economic development and enable timely course correction at the district level.The govt clarified that the Rs2 crore allocation is for the development of a single portal covering all districts in Maharashtra and is not a per-district grant. The approved amount includes GST, and expenditure will be incurred strictly as per the conditions outlined in the GR, with no provision for cost escalation.
