Shivamogga: State minister for school education, literacy, and Shivamogga district minister Madhu Bangarappa on Tuesday stated that the Prajaseva campaign has been introduced to respond quickly to the daily problems, challenges, and grievances of the public, bringing govt services directly to people’s doorsteps. He was speaking after inaugurating the district-level Prajaseva campaign meeting at Suvarna Samskruti Bhavana in Shikaripura.“It is deeply distressing that citizens are forced to wander from office to office and travel from rural areas to the capital city, Bengaluru, to get their issues resolved. This wastes both their time and money. Prajaseva system has been launched specifically to prevent this hardship,” the minister said.“The district administration will act as a bridge between the public and govt. Officers must deliver services in a manner that enhances the dignity of govt and ensures tax money is utilised effectively,” he added. The campaign will be conducted on the first and third Saturdays of every month in every taluk of the district.Shivamogga MP BY Raghavendra highlighted the looming drought in the district. He urged elected representatives and officials to act cautiously to protect citizens and livestock and to prevent severe water and power shortages. “Rural tanks and lakes are being filled through lift irrigation projects. Given the rainfall deficit, officials should focus on filling these waterbodies to at least 50% capacity,” he said.He added that due to a lack of coordination among department officials, govt welfare schemes were failing to meet deadlines. He urged officials to resolve internal coordination issues and ensure benefits reach eligible citizens. “Out of the 4,351 lakes in the district, 1,017 have been encroached upon. Department officials concerned must clear these encroachments immediately to enable proper water storage,” he instructed.
