Lucknow: Heavy rain lashed the city on Saturday, triggering nearly 40 rain-related distress calls to the UP-112 emergency response system.While villages and semi-rural pockets reported damage to homes, urban areas such as Gomti Nagar Extension, Aashiana and the Ekana Stadium belt witnessed submerged roads, inundated colonies and vehicles trapped in drains and deep pits.In Malihabad, a caller informed UP-112 that a wall had collapsed, reportedly trapping three people under the debris. Another call from Bhaidaskhera Road in Malihabad reported a roof collapse, with reports that five people were trapped.In Mohanlalganj, a rain-damaged house collapsed along the Mohanlalganj-Mauranwan-Unnao road, though no casualties were reported. Similar distress calls came from Saadatganj, Beheri and Daliganj, where roofs and walls gave way due to incessant rain.In Gomti Nagar Extension, vehicles got stuck in roadside drains and deep pits after roads were submerged. Residents of Excella Resortico and nearby sectors also reported water entering homes and submerging vehicles, leading to the deployment of police, fire services and SDRF teams.DCP Deeksha Sharma, who heads UP-112’s Lucknow district unit, said all 95 UP-112 motorcycles and 84 four-wheelers remained operational despite the downpour.“Our teams remained on the ground throughout the rain spell and maintained an average response time of around six minutes,” she said.
