Industrial Development Minister Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi

Lucknow: To speed up project execution and turn intents into real investment, UP is set to roll out district-level facilitation strategy.Under this, annual investment targets for all 75 districts in the state will be fixed and strictly monitored.“While Invest UP will anchor this strategy through Udyami Mitras and district industries centres, we will track the progress on a dashboard. The objective is to create jobs, deepen local industries and build a more balanced industrial base across the state,” industrial development minister Nand Gopal Gupta ‘Nandi’ told TOI on Tuesday after a departmental review.Nandi said the officials have been asked to play a more active role in resolving investor issues and ensuring projects move from MoUs to the groundbreaking ceremony and eventually production.Noting that over 16,000 projects involving investments of over Rs 12 lakh crore had been grounded through four GBCs, while preparations for the fifth were underway, Nandi stressed that industrialisation should spread to districts beyond Noida, Greater Noida, the Yamuna Expressway and western UP.“Districts have been asked to identify sectors suited to their local resources, skills and entrepreneurial base, particularly agriculture and food processing, logistics, services and emerging technologies,” he stated.Earlier, minister of state for parliamentary affairs and industrial development Jaswant Singh Saini said the rise in annual company registrations — from around 500 to over 4,500 — reflected an improving business environment.“Udyami Mitras should act as an effective bridge between investors and govt and focus on resolving issues promptly,” he said.
