Bokaro MLA Shwettaa Singh also joined the agitators

Bokaro: Hundreds of displaced people, women and apprentice students joined Bokaro MLA Shwettaa Singh in an indefinite hunger strike outside the ADM building on Saturday, demanding jobs at Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL).The 24-hour-old protest at Two Tank Garden was organised by Visthapith Apprentice Sangh (VAS), other displaced groups and affected families. Protesters threatened to block all 12 BSL gates if no action was taken by the end of Navratri.VAS member Sunil Kumar said the hunger strike would continue until concrete steps were initiated on employment. Gomti Devi, mother of Prem Prasad, who died during an agitation at the building gate in 2025, is also participating.Displaced leader Durga Charan Mahto said Singh’s participation had strengthened the movement. Singh urged BSL management to hold meaningful talks and provide a time-bound solution, warning that the issue should not escalate and affect plant operations.BSL communications chief Manikant Dhan declined to comment on the issue.
