New Delhi: A dedicated “Digital Lok Adalat” system was introduced on Saturday to enable faster and more convenient settlement of traffic challans, making the process simpler and more accessible for citizens.It was introduced by Delhi Traffic Police, in coordination with Delhi State Legal Services Authority and National Informatics Centre, and was e-inaugurated by justice V Kameshwar Rao.Under the existing process, citizens often faced delays in the updating of notices and the settlement of challans in Lok Adalats. the newsystem was developed as a technological intervention to streamline the disposal process, ensure timely updates, and provide easier public access.Police said the newly developed portal enabled unified access to traffic challan data. Citizens also received SMS notifications regarding the disposal status of their challans or notices.The initiative is expected to reduce the backlog of pending traffic challans, provide quicker settlements to vehicle owners, and ensure greater transparency and efficiency in Lok Adalat proceedings. In the current Lok Adalat, a total of 1,92,444 challans and notices have been downloaded for settlement. The disposal status of 1,25,678 challans and notices has been updated on the server.
