Patna: Digha vending zone, spread over 1.93 acres between Atal Path and J P Setu, is being developed by the Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) to accommodate around 250 street vendors. On Tuesday, PMC commissioner Yashpal Meena conducted a surprise inspection to review progress on the project and other key infrastructure works, including Mandiri Nala and Mithapur developments. During the visit, Meena directed executing agencies to ensure construction quality, adhere strictly to timelines and maintain site sanitation.The vending zone is being designed as a multipurpose public space, featuring parking facilities, decorative lighting, a children’s park and integrated drainage systems. Meena instructed officials to expedite the final stages of the project to facilitate immediate relocation of vendors currently operating under J P Ganga Path.During a review of the Mandiri Nala-cum-road project, officials confirmed that the 1,289-metre box drain and two-lane road connecting the Income Tax roundabout to Bans Ghat are ready for inauguration. Meena directed contractors to set up on-site camps to complete remaining beautification work and integrated drainage connections across SP Verma Road and Gardanibagh.The inspection concluded at Mithapur, where six projects are under way near the metro station, including a four-storey common service centre. The facility will house a post office, municipal offices, banking services and an open-air theatre. Meena stressed that coordinated execution of these projects is vital for transforming the city into a modern urban centre and warned against further delays in infrastructure work near the Chanakya National Law University area.
