Ranveer Singh’s ‘Dhurandhar’ made waves upon its release, becoming the top film of 2025 as a spy thriller, with its songs turning into social media sensations. Among them, the dance track ‘Shararat’, featuring Ayesha Khan and Krystle D’Souza, emerged as a major hit. Krystle has now shared that the song offer came her way just four days before the shoot, leaving her taken aback.
Krystle D’Souza recalls the surprise call
Krystle recently appeared as a guest on Farah Khan’s YouTube channel, where the conversation touched on her win on The Traitors Season 2 as well as her chart-topping track Shararat. Asked by Farah how she landed the song, the actor recalled, “This is the first time I am doing an item song. Honestly when I got the call from Mukesh [Chhabra] Sir, I was sitting right there (inside her home, near the balcony) in my corner with my girlfriends. He said we are shooting a song in 4 days and one girl is already selected. The team wants to see if you will be able to do it. I said ok give me some time and I cut the call.”
Krystle D’Souza admits she was ‘very scared’ during rehearsals
The actress shared that she turned to her girlfriends right away to ask if she should take up the song, and they all responded with an enthusiastic yes. She admitted to Farah that she isn’t a trained dancer, having only performed at a few award shows, and mentioned that during the shoot, she had no clue the film would go on to become such a massive hit. “He did not even give me proper details, he just said that it has big faces and it is a very big film. Then I went for the rehearsals, where Vijay [Ganguly, choreographer] sir was there, and Aditya [Dhar, director] sir was also there… and they made us do some 11 different steps. That time the hook step was not final so we had 11 steps in mind and after that I was selected. I was very scared,” she added.
Krystle D’Souza played a wedding dancer in ‘Shararat’
In the Ranveer Singh-starrer, ‘Shararat’ unfolds against the backdrop of a wedding celebration, with Ayesha Khan and Krystle D’Souza playing wedding dancers at a lavish Karachi wedding. The track is composed by Sashwat Sachdev, sung by Madhubanti Bagchi and Jasmine Sandlas, and choreographed by Vijay Ganguly.
‘Dhurandhar’ became India’s highest-grossing film of 2025
‘Dhurandhar’ itself is a spy thriller led by Ranveer, with a supporting cast that includes Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan, and Sanjay Dutt. The film has gone on to become a massive box office success, emerging as India’s highest-grossing release of 2025.
