Veteran actor Rakesh Bedi who has been in the news after ‘Dhurandhar’ has now spoken out strongly against the growing concern of adulteration in food, beverages and alcohol, urging authorities to impose severe punishment on those who put consumers’ lives at risk for monetary benefits. Bedi has expressed his opinion amidst Tukaram Mundhe’s current, aggressive statewide crackdown on food adulteration, poor kitchen hygiene, and regulatory violations across popular restaurants, eateries, and manufacturing units. In a video shared on social media, the actor addressed the issue of adulterated consumable products and questioned why people responsible for such practices do not face harsher consequences. Bedi stressed that deliberately compromising the quality of food and drinks can put the health and lives of numerous unsuspecting consumers in danger.Bedi said in his video, “Hi guys and welcome to high chai, no no, not high chai, welcome to high cheers with Rakesh Bedi. Cheers. There is no point in saying cheers now. You know why? Because FSSAI has found out that almost all the liquors that we make in our country, which is made in India, are not liquors at all, they are spirits. The essence of liquor is added to it and it is sold. So we have not been drinking whisky, rum, or brandy in our country for many years.”He added, “Everything is fake. But the question that is coming to my mind is that all the FSSAI officers have been sleeping for so many years. Has no FSSAI officer ever drunk alcohol? Has no FSSAI officer ever realised that liquor is fake in our country? How did he wake up suddenly? Anyway, it’s late, it’s right, now that you’re awake, don’t sleep.”Bedi further expressed disappointment over food adulteration and said such people should be charged with murder. “Get all this shut and sleep. I mean, never sleep. Because a lot of things are fake in our country. A lot of things. A lot of food items are fake. And I believe that the person who adulterates food, he should be charged with murder or attempt to murder.Because he is trying to kill a lot of people for a little profit. Isn’t it amazing? So the person who adulterates food, whether it is alcohol, food or drinking, the person who adulterates, should be charged with at least attempt to murder.”Of late, Bedi has also been using his social media platforms to speak candidly about several social and public-interest issues. Through his videos, the actor has regularly shared his perspective on matters that he believes deserve greater attention.Meanwhile, Bedi has also witnessed an interesting phase in his acting career. He recently grabbed attention for his portrayal of Shakeel in the blockbuster ‘Dhurandhar’, marking another notable performance in a career spanning more than four decades.Over the years, the actor has appeared in several popular films, including ‘Chashme Buddoor’, ‘Mera Damaad’, ‘Coolie No. 1’, ‘Gadar 2’ and ‘Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya’.Bedi has also enjoyed a successful run on television and became a familiar face among audiences through shows such as ‘Shrimaan Shrimati’, ‘Yes Boss’, ‘Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hain!’ and ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’.
