Dhubri: A man was arrested on Friday night for his alleged involvement in a hawala and money-transfer network linked to cross-border cattle smuggling.The accused, identified as Abul Chand of Dhubri, was allegedly involved in illegal financial transactions. Police recovered Rs 3,15,800 in cash, a mobile phone and documents suspected to contain details of the network’s financial activities.The action was part of an ongoing investigation into illegal money transfers associated with cross-border criminal activities, particularly suspected cattle smuggling, police said.Investigators are examining the seized phone and documents to trace the network’s financial links and identify others allegedly involved.Talking to TOI, Dhubri Sadar police station OC Pritam Das said police were investigating the source of the recovered money, its intended recipients and the wider network behind the alleged transactions.“Further arrests cannot be ruled out as the investigation progresses on the network,” Das added.
