Amravati: Dharni police seized over 5kg ganja, valued at Rs99,000, and arrested one person during a raid at Dubai Mohalla on Wednesday.Acting on a tip-off, a team led by police inspector Avatarsing Chavan searched residence of Khalil Ansari and recovered a box containing holding five packets. The packets contained dried leaves, flowers, seeds, and stems with a strong odour. The material was later confirmed as ganja.The seizure was part of an intensified drive ordered by superintendent of police Niketan Kadam against illegal businesses and drug trafficking.A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act at Dharni police station. Police sub-inspector Satish Jhalte is conducting the investigation.Revenue officials were also present to ensure procedural compliance during the raid.
