Bhubaneswar: Director general of police Y B Khurania on Saturday presented chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi a letter of appreciation from Union home minister Amit Shah recognising Odisha Police’s success in combating Left-wing extremism (LWE) in the state.He congratulated the police force and security personnel engaged in anti-Maoist operations, saying the recognition reflected their sustained efforts in restoring peace in vulnerable and remote areas. He said the govt would continue to strengthen policing, development outreach and rehabilitation measures to ensure that extremism does not re-emerge.The appreciation from the Union home minister comes against the backdrop of Odisha’s sharp improvement on the LWE front. In May, Shah felicitated Odisha Police at a function in Bastar for its role in eliminating Maoist influence in the state, where DGP Khurania and ADG, anti-Naxal operations, Sanjeeb Panda received the honour.
