New Delhi: Just days after concerns surfaced over CBSE’s new on-screen marking (OSM) system, students found themselves grappling with a fresh set of problems linked to the post-result process. As the window for verification and revaluation opened, many reported being unable to access services for obtaining scanned copies of answer sheets on the portal due to repeated technical glitches, with complaints ranging from login problems and payment failures to application pages not loading at all.Several students and parents took to social media, questioning the reliability of a process they say was already under scrutiny since the declaration of the Class XII results. Despite the Board extending the deadline on Tuesday to ease pressure and then assuring the glitches would be fixed by 2 pm on Wednesday, complaints continued to pour in.On Wednesday, the Board came out with a fresh update stating, “It is informed to all stakeholders that the online application for submitting requests to obtain scanned copies of Class XII answer books is presently facing technical glitches. A team of experts is addressing the problem, and the application is expected to be live by 2 pm today.”While the extension of the deadline was expected to provide relief, many said issues persisted even after the revised timeline was announced. Social media platforms were flooded with posts from students and parents expressing concerns over delays and technical failures.“Why is the CBSE website still down? Kids need access to their papers, so they can apply for re-evaluation. If you can’t manage one site, how can we trust your corrections?” asked a parent of two. Another user wrote, “If CBSE can’t even maintain a stable website, how can we trust them to accurately check the answer sheets of lakhs of students?”Later on Wednesday, a CBSE official said the portal was functioning smoothly, and applications were being submitted successfully, adding that over 1.2 lakh applications for obtaining more than 3.8 lakh scanned answer books were submitted by 7.30 pm.Amid these issues, CBSE on Tuesday extended the last date for obtaining scanned copies of evaluated Class XII answer books by one day. According to a circular issued by the Board, the deadline was revised from May 22 to May 23 “due to a technical problem encountered on the CBSE website”. Students who apply for scanned copies will be able to access them between May 26 and May 29.The latest complaints follow wider concerns over this year’s results, particularly after several students reported unexpectedly low scores in subjects such as physics, chemistry and mathematics. Some students who cracked competitive examinations like JEE Main also claimed discrepancies between their board performance and expectations. While CBSE has maintained that the OSM system is designed to improve transparency and reduce errors, students and parents say their concerns now extend beyond marks alone and increasingly revolve around confidence in the overall process.A claim doing the rounds alleged that the scanning of answer books under the OSM system was not conducted properly due to inadequate preparation and lack of time. In response, CBSE issued a fact-check, stating that the claim was “factually incorrect”. The Board clarified that every stage of the OSM system, including scanning, quality checks, marking, and evaluation, was carried out in accordance with established procedures, with due diligence and under continuous supervision.
