Lucknow: Despite an ongoing police crackdown on banned Chinese manjha, the hazardous kite string injured yet another commuter in Lucknow on Thursday evening, marking the ninth such incident in as many days and raising serious concerns over enforcement on the ground, reports Pathikrit Chakraborty.The latest case was reported near Hahnemann Crossing in Gomtinagar, where a 29-year-old woman, Dr Surbhi, an MDS second-year student and resident of Gomti Nagar Extension, was riding her scooter when a sharp nylon string slashed her forehead and right ear. The impact was so severe that she sustained deep cuts, with doctors stating that the injuries exposed bone and required multiple stitches. According to the victim, the string struck her twice despite her wearing a helmet. She reportedly bled for nearly 15–20 minutes before a passer-by rushed her to a private hospital in Arjunganj.
