Kullu: Mandi deputy commissioner and chairman of the fair committee Apoorv Devgan said on Sunday that the 7-day international Shivratri festival will be formally inaugurated by deputy chief minister Mukesh Agnihotri at Paddal Ground on Feb 16. Prior to the inauguration, the deputy chief minister will offer prayers at Shri Raj Madhoray Temple and participate in the festival’s first Jaleb. In this grand Jaleb led by Raj Madhoray, local deities of Mandi district, along with city residents, will participate, said the DC.The deputy chief minister will also attend the first cultural evening organised at Seri Stage. The main attraction of the cultural programmes this time will be the International Cultural Parade, in which troupes from France, America, Nigeria, Tanzania, Tajikistan, Sri Lanka and other countries will participate, along with artists from North India, Himachal and Mandi district, said the DC.

On February 16, the first cultural evening will feature performances by Indian Idol fame Nitin, Neha Dixit and Nati King Kuldeep Sharma. On Feb 17, the second cultural evening will see Kaku Ram Thakur and Sunil Rana entertaining the audience. On Feb 18, the third cultural evening will feature the Mount Fashion Show, Indrajeet Paul, Bollywood playback singer Arvind Rajput and international troupes, and on Feb 19, the fourth cultural evening will have performances by Mamta Bhardwaj, Arun-Anusheela Jugni, Kumar Sahil and national-international troupes.On February 20, the 5th cultural evening will feature the International Cultural Parade, along with performances by Geeta Bhardwaj, Kushant Bhardwaj and other troupes. On Feb 21, the final cultural evening will host Voice of Shivratri Final, Harmony of Pines, Indrajeet Singh and performances by international troupes.The deputy commissioner said that this festival will present a wonderful confluence of Mandi’s rich divine culture, folk traditions and international cultural exchange.
