Nagpur: A 63-year-old man from Bhagwan Nagar in Ajni was robbed of his gold chain by a fraudster posing as a delivery executive on Tuesday afternoon.According to police, Sadanand Kamble was at home around 12.30pm on Aug 5 when a young man arrived at his door claiming to deliver a parcel for his son. The package contained a leather belt. As Kamble checked the address and contacted family members to verify whether anyone had ordered the item, the suspect exploited the distraction.The accused allegedly snatched Kamble’s 10gm gold chain, valued at about ₹40,000, and fled from the second-floor flat. Witnesses said he arrived on a bicycle and quickly disappeared through nearby lanes.Following Kamble’s complaint, Ajni police registered a case of robbery and launched an investigation. Officers are examining CCTV footage from the residential complex and surrounding area to identify the suspect.Police said the offender used a delivery-boy ruse to gain the victim’s trust before committing the crime. Investigators are also tracing the bicycle abandoned by the accused, which is suspected to be stolen, and are gathering technical evidence to establish his identity.
