New Delhi: Amid reports that the government is planning an extended monsoon session to push through the delimitation bill, the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi again on Friday, urging him to convene an all-party meeting and discuss the government’s legislative business in Parliament.

Pointing out that he had written to the PM several times earlier too, the Congress president urged PM Modi to take the Opposition on board and not rush bills through, pointing out that the government had previously tried to push through the delimitation bill during the budget session.
“Please convene an all-party meeting to have a detailed discussion on your new proposals before they are finalised for consideration in Parliament. All political parties must get sufficient time to deliberate among themselves, with each other and with all the other stakeholders,” Kharge said in the letter. “Please do not once again try and bulldoze a far-reaching constitutional amendment bill through Parliament as you attempted earlier and that met its well-deserved fate.”
