NEW DELHI: The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) is planning to build a five-star hotel in Dwarka subcity, close to the proposed diplomatic enclave and the country’s longest 18-hole golf course, with the project expected to attract investments of around Rs 1,000 crore.The DDA on Wednesday signed an agreement with Juniper Hospitality Assets Private Limited, a subsidiary of Juniper Hotels Ltd, to develop a hotel in Sector 23 of Dwarka, the agency said in a statement.Juniper Hotels Ltd is a strategic partnership between Saraf Hotels and Hyatt, a leading international hospitality brand.It currently manages seven hotels with 1,895 keys, including 245 serviced apartments, across India, news agency PTI reported.The proposed five-star hotel will be developed and operated by Juniper in partnership with Hyatt under the Grand Hyatt brand on a licence fee basis, the statement said.According to the DDA, the project site will soon be handed over to Juniper Hotels Ltd, with the hotel scheduled to become operational by 2030.Over the 55-year licence period, the hotel is projected to generate more than Rs 6,000 crore in revenue for the DDA, PTI reported.The hotel is part of DDA chairman and Delhi Lt governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu’s vision to transform Dwarka into a premier economic, commercial and investment destination.The project is expected to create around 800 direct employment opportunities and attract capital investment of more than Rs 1,000 crore, the statement said.Overlooking the DDA’s Dwarka Golf Course, the country’s longest, the hotel is expected to cater to the growing demand from business travellers and tourists.Its proximity to the Yashobhoomi Convention Centre, the largest convention centre in India and Asia by area, and the Dwarka Sports Complex further enhances its locational advantage.The hotel is also expected to be among the first hospitality facilities to cater to the Diplomatic Enclave coming up directly opposite the site.The project is one of four special licence-fee projects auctioned by the DDA over the past year and marks the first instance in which the authority has formally executed such an agreement.(With agency inputs)
