NEW DELHI: The Delhi high court is set to hear on Monday the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) plea challenging the bail granted to former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal in the money laundering case linked to the 2021-22 excise policy, news agency PTI.The petition, filed by the ED in 2024, is listed before Justice Manoj Jain.Kejriwal has since received relief from the Supreme Court in the case. On July 12, 2024, the top court granted him interim bail and referred three questions concerning the “need and necessity of arrest” under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) to a larger bench.Earlier, on June 20, 2024, a trial court had granted Kejriwal bail on a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh. The Delhi High Court later stayed the order after the ED challenged it.On October 14, 2025, the high court gave the agency a “last and final opportunity” to present its arguments in the matter.Kejriwal’s lawyer had objected to the “repeated” adjournments sought by the ED, alleging that the agency was unnecessarily delaying the proceedings.The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor was arrested by the ED on March 21, 2024, in the money laundering case. The CBI arrested him on June 26, 2024, in a related corruption case.The Delhi excise policy was withdrawn in 2022 after the Lieutenant Governor ordered a CBI investigation into alleged irregularities and corruption in its formulation and implementation.The CBI and ED have alleged that the policy was altered in a manner that benefited certain licence holders and that irregularities were committed during its implementation.
