NEW DELHI: Around 30% of the city’s registered 1.45 crore voters may not be included in the draft poll roll, which is set to be published on Aug 24 under the special intensive revision. The verification of the credentials of nearly 32% of the registered voters is yet to be done, with the process through enumeration form collections and online submission coming to an end on Aug 17.“Over 30% of the forms distributed to 1.45 crore voters in Delhi are yet to be collected even though only three days are left. The primary reason is that they are absent, shifted, or dead & duplicate,” said an official. Election officials had earlier estimated that the total deletions could be between 15% and 20%. Around 75% of the voters from whom forms have not been collected were found to be shifted.The reason behind the non-collection is that a large number of people stay in rented premises in Delhi and they usually do not update their address in the voter cards when they shift,” said the official.Election officials clarified that deletion from the draft electoral roll does not mean permanent exclusion. Voters can file claims and objections from Aug 24 to Sept 23, including Form 6 for enrolment at a new address. After verification, eligible voters will be included in the final electoral roll on Oct 27.A high-level meeting was held with all 13 district election officials Friday to discuss “non-collectible forms”, and officials flagged a high number of ASDD electors as the main issue.“Some registered voters who have informed the BLOs that they will submit the enumeration forms before Monday, but their percentage is only 1-2% as per our estimates,” said the official.As on Aug 14, 66.7% of the enumeration forms had been verified and digitised. Between July 24 and Aug 3, the verification rate jumped from 43.4% to 62%. In the next 11 days, till Aug 14, it proceeded slowly, reaching 66.7%.The city has 1,45,10,299 registered electors as of July and all of them have been given the enumeration forms, according to Delhi poll panel.According to the final electoral roll published on Jan 6, 2025, Delhi had 1,55,24,858 voters.
