Srinagar, Feb 05: The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Thursday stated in the Legislative Assembly that the de-addiction OPD services are functional in all 20 districts of Union Territory. It added that IPD services are available in all nine Government Medical Colleges (GMCs), catering to both male and female patients.
These details were provided in response to a starred question raised by MLA Devyani Rana on existing government-run/government-aided and empanelled private/NGO run drug de-addiction and rehabilitation centres.
In reply, the government said that drug de-addiction services are being strengthened across the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir under the Health & Medical Education Department and the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
“Addiction Treatment Facilities (ATFs) are functional in all districts of Kashmir Division and nine districts of Jammu Division, with dedicated IPD beds and OPD services available to ensure comprehensive treatment and rehabilitation,” the reply said.
In Kashmir Division, the available Addiction Treatment Facilities (ATFs) include SKIMS, GMC Bemina Srinagar, GMC Anantnag, GMC Baramulla, GMC Handwara, District Hospital Kulgam, DH Shopian, DH Pulwama, DH Budgam, DH Ganderbal, and DH Bandipora.
In Jammu Division, the available ATFs include GMC Doda, GMC Jammu, GMC Kathua, GMC AH Rajouri, GMC AH Udhampur, District Hospital Kishtwar, DH Poonch, DH Ramban, DH Reasi, and DH Samba (functional on an OPD basis).
The house was informed that the de-addiction OPD services are functional in all 20 districts of J&K, ensuring access to counselling and treatment.
Similarly, the IPD services are available in all nine Government Medical Colleges (GMCs), catering to both male and female patients. Psychiatrists are posted in all GMCs to provide clinical oversight.
In Kashmir Division, 11 ATFs are functional with 6 IPD beds available per district hospital, while in Jammu Division, 9 ATFs are functional, and one has been sanctioned but is pending.
Across the Union Territory, OPD services are available in all districts and IPD services in all GMCs, with psychiatrists posted for clinical support. The overall policy framework is being implemented under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and Health Department initiatives.
In reply to another question on plans for establishing new drug de-addiction and rehabilitation centres across UT of Jammu & Kashmir, the government said that drug de-addiction services are being strengthened across the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir under the Health & Medical Education Department and the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
“ATFs are functional in all districts of Kashmir Division and nine districts of Jammu Division, with dedicated IPD beds and OPD services available to ensure comprehensive treatment and rehabilitation. However, as of now, no new drug de-addiction centre is under consideration in the Department,” the reply said.
