New Delhi: Delhi Development Authority (DDA) will organise a World Tourism Day celebration at Baansera, Sarai Kale Khan, on Sept 26 and 27, to showcase India’s rich diversity in tourism, art, craft, cuisine and music.The park will be divided into six themed zones. The first one will be Hunar Gali, where traditional arts and crafts will be presented by artists. Pottery, block printing, bangle making, henna and mandala art would find a presence here. The zone is aimed at giving visitors an opportunity to see traditional crafts through interactive activities.The second zone will be Yaadon Ki Gali, whichwill take visitors down the memory lane through a vintage-themed experience featuring a photo booth, puppet show and bioscope.The third zone will be Bachpan Ki Dukaan, centred around childhood nostalgia.Another attraction, Chitthi Ghar, will offer visitors a postcard-writing and posting experience, bringing back the traditional practice of writing and sending postcards.“While older people will get to relive old memories, younger visitors will get to know about the traditional arts and crafts which are no longer practised,” said an official.Food will be a major component of the celebration. A section called Bharat Ke Zaayeke will showcase cuisines from at least 10-12 states or regions. “The zone will highlight the country’s regional culinary diversity and offer visitors an opportunity to sample different traditional food choices,” an official said.For children, Masti Ka Adda will feature rides and other recreational activities.“The six zones form an integral part of the visitor experience,” said an official. The tendering process has started to engage agencies.
