David and Victoria Beckham’s former Miami apartment has changed hands, bringing an end to their ownership of one of the city’s more recognisable luxury residences. The couple bought the full-floor penthouse at One Thousand Museum for $19.8 million in 2020, at a time when David Beckham’s involvement with Inter Miami was already tying the family more closely to South Florida. Six years later, the property sold for $24.6 million, as reported by Miami Herald. The sale means the Beckhams no longer own the apartment in the Zaha Hadid-designed tower, although it does not mark a departure from Miami. They still have a much larger home on Miami Beach, bought for about $80 million.
Inside the Beckhams’ $19.8 million One Thousand Museum penthouse
The Beckhams’ apartment occupied an entire floor of One Thousand Museum, the 62-storey residential tower at 1000 Biscayne Boulevard. Covering 11,046 square feet, the penthouse had five bedrooms and six bathrooms, with views across Biscayne Bay and towards Museum Park.According to the Miami Herald, they paid $19.8 million for the residence in April 2020. Its eventual sale at $24.6 million came six years later, producing a difference of roughly $4.8 million before taxes, fees and other transaction costs.One Thousand Museum had already become one of the more distinctive buildings on the Miami skyline. Its exterior structure was designed by architect Zaha Hadid, whose work gave the tower its unusual exoskeleton-like appearance. Hadid was also the first woman to receive the Pritzker Prize, architecture’s highest-profile international honour.Inside, the building offers the kind of facilities expected at the upper end of Miami’s residential market, including a spa and restaurant. There is also a private helipad.
The building has attracted other famous owners
Reportedly, the Beckhams were not the only well-known names to buy into One Thousand Museum. Singer Marc Anthony purchased an 8,400-square-foot apartment in the building for $11 million in 2021.His later sale went in the other direction. The apartment reportedly sold for $8.6 million in October, below what he had paid for it.The different outcomes underline how individual properties can perform differently even within the same address. The Beckhams’ penthouse sale, meanwhile, came after years of holding one of the building’s largest residences.
The Beckhams still own their $80 million waterfront estate
The Beckhams also own a waterfront mansion on North Bay Road in Miami Beach, purchased for around $80 million. That property has nine bedrooms and nine bathrooms and looks out over Biscayne Bay.The modern house includes a gym, spa and private cinema. High ceilings and large glass doors open parts of the interior towards the surrounding outdoor space, while a private dock provides room for the couple’s yacht.With that property still in their portfolio, the sale of the One Thousand Museum penthouse has reduced their Miami holdings by one home rather than ending them altogether. The family has moved away from the 11,046-square-foot full-floor apartment, but they have not exactly traded Miami luxury for something smaller.For the Beckhams, the figures tell a straightforward real estate story: a $19.8 million purchase in 2020 and a $24.6 million sale six years later, while their considerably more expensive Miami Beach mansion remains their other major home in the area.
