Gurgaon: Residents of Daulah village blocked the busy Sohna-Gurgaon road for an hour on Saturday, demanding the arrest of those who murdered 34-year-old Neetu inside her home. The stir began around 10.30 am, disrupting traffic until senior police officers intervened and assured villagers that they were working to identify and arrest the suspects.Angry family members and villagers refused to allow the postmortem until police assured them that the suspects were being identified and would be arrested at the earliest. Women protesters lay in the middle of the road, raising slogans against the police and administration and accusing officers of failing to make any arrests even 24 hours after the murder. The road was cleared around 11.30 am after half an hour of discussions with senior officers, though protesters continued to demand swift action.Neetu was found dead in the bathroom of her house on Friday, with her hands tied and tape covering her mouth and face. Her husband, Prashant, a private school teacher, discovered her body around 2 pm after returning home with their children from school. He rushed her to a private hospital in Sohna with the help of neighbours, but doctors declared her dead.Household belongings were scattered, prompting investigators to examine a possible theft angle alongside the murder. However, the motive remains unclear. The postmortem was conducted on Saturday by a board of three doctors, with the procedure videographed as per protocol. Police sources said Neetu had injuries on her face and neck.“It appears she may have been dragged on the floor and kicked in the chest. Her hands were tied, and she was strangled. She may have resisted or struggled to save herself,” an investigator said. The exact cause of death will be established through the postmortem findings. The killing has raised concerns among villagers over women’s safety and police patrolling in the area. Protesters alleged that inadequate patrolling has enabled criminals and questioned how the crime could take place inside a home.Police teams from Sohna Sadar police station and Gurgaon police’s crime units are investigating the case. ACP (Sohna) Mukesh Yadav, the station house officer and a forensic science laboratory team inspected the crime scene and collected evidence.Investigators are reconstructing the sequence of events between the time Prashant left home with the children in the morning and the discovery of Neetu’s body. CCTV footage from the surrounding areas is being examined to identify anyone who may have entered or left the house around the time of the murder.
