Dan Levy on how he is honouring Catherine O’Hara at the Emmys this year

Featuring on NBC’s pre-show segment on TikTok for the Emmys 2026, Levy talked to Trisha Paytas and Nicky Campbell about how he wants to take a moment this year to honour Catherine O’Hara. He shared, “I’m honouring Catherine tonight, which is still surreal to even think about, so you know it’s like a very bittersweet experience,” with Paytas replying by saying, “Looking forward to the tribute tonight from you.”In another conversation with E! Online at the red carpet, Levy added, “I have a little black rose in honour of my Schitt’s Creek family.” It’s a strange, surreal evening. How do you distil so many feelings into such a small gesture? All you can really do is lead with love and lead with your most sincere thoughts and feelings and hope that you honour a woman whose legacy is so much bigger than all of us.”

Dan Levy remembers Catherine O’Hara

He shared that one of the highlights of his Emmy journey had been when O’Hara had won an Emmy in 2020 for her portrayal of Moira Rose. He added, “Catherine was such a singular force. I remember looking back on my time and thinking, ‘Just let her do her thing. Give her space. Give her anything she wants. If she wants to wear wigs, let her wear wigs. If she wants to name those wigs, let her name those wigs. Do anything you can to make her happy because what she is doing on this show is next level.’”Both Levy and ‘Schitt’s Creek’ co-star Annie Murphy were also announced as one of the presenters for the award show. Levy is also not the only one who is dedicating the night to some of the stars we lost this year. Reba McEntire, according to The Hollywood Reporter, is slated to perform a dedication piece for Dolly Parton, who passed away after battling cancer last month.
