Noida: An explosion and a subsequent fire at a restaurant in Coco County Society on Friday afternoon injured at least four people, including a minor. The likely cause of fire is a cylinder leak but investigation is still underway in the matter. The blaze was controlled using the firefighting system in the building. An investigation into the gas leak and the restaurant’s safety standards is underway. The restaurant management is also being questioned. Further action, if needed, will be decided based on the officials’ investigation.Two restaurant employees were burned in the incident, while a woman and her child were injured while fleeing the scene. All four are out of danger after receiving first aid, an official said.According to chief fire officer Pradeep Kumar Choubey, the fire dept received information around 12.40pm that a cylinder blast caused a fire in the Food Plaza in Sector 10’s Coco County Society. The fire was accompanied by a loud explosion, which shattered the restaurant’s glass windows. Police arrived at the scene immediately and began rescue operations.Residents of the society said the blast was heard far and wide, forcing people to rush out of their flats. For some time, panic prevailed in the area before officials were able to restore peace again.
