Ganderbal, Jun 29: Rajbhasha Cell, Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir), organised a one-day workshop on “Role of IT Tools in Progress of Rajbhasha Hindi” for the administrative staff at the Tulmulla campus here Monday.
Addressing the participants, Incharge Registrar, Prof. D. K. Madaan, lauded the University’s sustained efforts in promoting Rajbhasha and hailed the progress achieved under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. A Ravinder Nath.
He observed that language serves as a powerful medium for national integration and effective governance, adding that multilingual competence broadens intellectual horizons and facilitates seamless communication across regions.
Referring to the NEP -2020, he said the policy accords equal importance to regional, national and international languages, thereby preserving India’s linguistic heritage while preparing learners for global engagement.
Stressing the transformative role of technology, he advocated for the development and adoption of bilingual digital tools and innovative software solutions to facilitate official work in Hindi.
In his address, Rajbhasha expert and Advisor, IIHM, Dr. Rajiv Singh, underscored that the promotion of Rajbhasha is not about imposing one language over another but about respecting India’s multilingual character while strengthening Hindi as an effective medium of official communication.
Speaking on the occasion, University Librarian, Dr. Nazir Ahmad, observed that modern digital technologies have emerged as powerful enablers in promoting the use of Hindi in administration.
Addressing the gathering, Controller of Examinations, Prof. Kaisar Javed, observed that proficiency in Hindi enables employees to discharge their official responsibilities more effectively, particularly in view of the increasing use of bilingual correspondence in government institutions.
He stressed that learning multiple languages enhances professional competence and facilitates wider communication in an increasingly interconnected society. He informed the participants that research efforts are underway to develop multilingual translation systems involving Kashmiri, Hindi and English.
Conducting the event proceedings, Hindi Adhikari, Dr. Sakeena Akhter, presented an overview of the University’s Rajbhasha implementation initiatives. She informed the gathering that nearly 70 per cent of the University’s employees have successfully completed Hindi Training Programmes.
She stated that the majority of employees are now proficiently using Hindi in both internal and external official communications, reflecting the University’s sustained commitment towards effective implementation of the Official Language Policy.
Dy Registrar, Abdul Rashid Bhat, proposed the vote of thanks. Thereafter during the technical session, Dr. Rajiv Singh, in his presentation discussed various IT-enabled language tools and AI platforms.
