Lucknow: Governor Anandiben Patel has issued an appreciation letter to Ayodhya district magistrate Shashank Tripathi after observing extensive improvements at anganwadi centres across the district. The letter was sent on Sunday, days after the governor’s visit to Ayodhya, where she launched and inaugurated multiple initiatives and reviewed welfare services on the ground.During her tour of the temple town, Patel took note of the upgraded anganwadi centres, which serve as frontline childcare and nutrition facilities, particularly in rural and remote areas. Officials said the changes were visible in both infrastructure and basic amenities, aimed at making the centres more child-friendly and increasing community participation. While the Yogi Adityanath govt has been implementing statewide infrastructure upgrades for anganwadi centres, Ayodhya has adopted an additional model by bringing private participation into the effort. Tripathi encouraged corporate and other private entities to support development works through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funding. The approach has helped accelerate improvements in several locations, officials said.In parts of Ayodhya, including the Sohawal development block, anganwadi centres are now reported to offer facilities that compare favourably with those in larger districts such as Lucknow, Kanpur and Varanasi. Upgrades include better ventilation, improved interiors and additional utilities that make the centres more functional for children and staff.Tripathi credited field teams and community support for achieving the milestones, adding that similar initiatives were pursued during his earlier posting as DM of Barabanki until April 20.Dr Ruchi Awashi, the chief minister’s fellow posted in the Puredalai aspirational block of Barabanki, said senior administrative officers maintained regular contact with ground staff and that child care and nutrition remained a top priority since Tripathi’s tenure in Barabanki and continues thereafter.Ayodhya and Barabanki are also among the leading districts in providing child-friendly toilets within anganwadi centres. Designed for young children, the toilets are accompanied by hand-washing stations, drinking water purifiers and improved rooms, steps that officials say have drawn higher community footfall.
