Patna: Police during a raid in Rahul Nagar area of Muzaffarpur district on Sunday arrested notorious criminal Bhairav Tripathi alias ‘Master’. He was allegedly dealing in illicit arms and was possessing a country-made pistol during his arrest.Police said Bhairav, a resident of Muzaffarpur, had been involved in criminal activities since 2012 and is known as Master among his peers due to his cunning nature. An FIR was lodged under Arms Act with Brahmapur police station in this regard.City SP Mohibullah Ansari said, “Police received secret information about an illegal arms deal on Road no. 3 in Rahul Nagar under Town police station area. A special investigation team (SIT), led by Brahmapura SHO Vipin Ranjan, raided the location and arrested Bhairav with a country-made pistol and a mobile phone.”“According to police, more than half a dozen serious cases, including murder, robbery and Arms Act violations, are registered against him at various police stations in the district. He was recently released from jail in an Arms Act case. Bhairav had been supplying illegal weapons to criminal gangs for a long time. Police consider him a key member of an arms syndicate,” Ansari said.The City SP said after the arrest of Tripathi, his contacts and clients are being investigated.
