Sasaram: Movement of heavy vehicles on the Sasaram-Chausa road has been suspended after multiple cracks were reported in a 55-year-old bridge located in Baradih village. The development has caused major disruption to transportation and raised serious safety concerns in the region.A team from the PWD visited the site and, upon inspection, declared the bridge unfit for heavy vehicles. As a precautionary measure, barriers have been placed on both ends of the bridge to restrict the movement of trucks and other large vehicles.This bridge serves as a crucial lifeline for transport, connecting key areas of Uttar Pradesh such as Ghazipur, Ballia, and the Purvanchal region. Every day, around 1,000 heavy vehicles loaded with sand, coal, and other commodities pass through this route. With the suspension in place, transportation of these essential materials has been severely affected, hampering trade and daily operations dependent on these supplies.While daily commuters continue to face inconvenience, the major impact is on goods transportation. The restriction has forced vehicles to take longer alternative routes, increasing costs and delays.Locals have raised concerns over alleged negligence by the authorities, stating that proper maintenance could have prevented the situation. The bridge, once considered a vital link for interstate connectivity, has now become a major bottleneck.Residents and transporters have urged immediate repair and restoration work to resume smooth and safe movement on this critical route.
