Nagpur: An internal road behind the Beltarodi police station, meant to improve connectivity, has turned into a daily ordeal for residents due to its deteriorating condition.Nearly half the stretch leading to the main road has been concretised, but the surface is already riddled with cracks. Residents allege the damage appeared within months of construction, raising quality concerns. The remaining portion is uneven, strewn with loose stones and dust, making travel hazardous.Two-wheeler riders are among the worst affected. “It feels like riding on a broken patchwork. The bike slips on gravel, and the cracked surface makes it unstable,” said commuter Akshay Bisen, adding that poor visibility makes it riskier at night. The situation is worsened by speed breakers installed on the damaged stretch, which residents say reflects poor planning. “Why add speed breakers on such a road? When repairs happen, they will be removed and rebuilt. It’s a waste of public money,” said Sunita Khandekar.Frustration is mounting over the lack of action. “We have complained repeatedly, but officials only inspect and leave. No lasting solution has been provided,” said another resident.Public works committee chairman Mukesh Kale acknowledged the issue, saying recent surveys have found several roads developing cracks within their defect liability period. “Contractors responsible will face strict action,” he said, urging citizens to file formal complaints instead of relying solely on social media.Residents, however, demand urgent repairs and accountability before conditions worsen further.
