Kolkata: CPM on Saturday distanced itself from attacks on journalists at the rally organised in Kolkata on Friday. “Left student groups were not involved in attacks on mediapersons,” CPM functionary Sujan Chakraborty said.He added that Left groups instead had condemned the attacks and had visited the injured journalists in hospitals.Congress, which too had condemned the attacks on media persons, held a candlelight march on Saturday after Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigned.“We will continue to fight for the youth and students. We will ensure a country without corruption and paper leak,” Congress Bengal unit president Subhankar Sarkar said.SUCI’s Swapan Ghosh said Pradhan’s resignation was a victory for the students’ movement. “The BJP govt had to bow down and concede,” he added.
