Patna: A local court on Friday postponed pronouncing its verdict on the anticipatory bail plea filed by well-known educator Faisal Khan, popularly called ‘Khan Sir’, in connection with a firing incident at his coaching institute. The order was deferred to July 13 because the district judge was on leave.The civil court deferred its order on the anticipatory bail plea of ‘Khan Sir’ in the coaching institute firing case till July 13, citing that the district judge was on leave.“Arguments on Khan Sir’s bail plea have already been completed in court on July 7. After the hearing, the court reserved its order. There was expectation that the order would be delivered on Friday. However, due to the District Judge not being available, the pronouncement had to be postponed,” Khan’s advocate Arvind Kumar Mouar said.Both sides are continuing with their legal preparations in the meantime.The case stems from a dispute between two major coaching institutes in Patna’s Musallahpur Haat area. On one side is Faisal Khan alias Khan Sir, director of one of the institutes. On the other side is Roshan Anand, director of another coaching centre. There has been long-standing competition and tension between the two institutes over student numbers, results and credit for toppers. The rivalry later turned into a legal dispute.The controversy came to light on the night of June 2, when an incident was reported at Khan Sir’s coaching centre. Khan Sir alleged that some people attacked the centre and accused them of vandalism, stone pelting and firing. After the incident, police started an investigation and questioned several people.Based on videos and other evidence that surfaced later, the scope of the probe was widened. In connection with the case, action was also taken against Khan Sir and his bodyguards. His bodyguards are currently lodged in Beur Central Jail, while Khan Sir’s name was also added to the FIR registered at Kadamkuan police station.
