Vadodara: A man and a 16-year-old girl, who were in a relationship, hanged themselves on Sunday — while livestreaming on Instagram — in a forested area of Singvad taluka in Dahod district. Their families and the 50-odd people watching the stream were left horrified.Police officials said Rajesh Ninama (22) was having an affair with the girl. “Rajesh had taken the girl to meet his parents a few days ago and sought their permission for marriage. His parents allegedly refused, as both were from the same clan, with the same surname,” said Shailesh Baria, a police officer from Randhikpur police station.The couple, residents of Limkheda taluka, were upset and resolved to end their lives. On Sunday morning, they went to a forested area in Haripur village of Singvad taluka around 10 am. Rajesh turned on his Instagram live and looped a long piece of cloth over a branch. They then hanged themselves.Police were informed, went to the spot and brought down the bodies. “They didn’t leave any suicide note behind. We are investigating if there was any other reason behind their extreme step,” Baria said.
