Vadodara: Ahead of the Vadodara Municipal Corporation’s (VMC) standing committee meeting on Friday, Congress councillor Deepa Shrivastav has objected to the proposed allotment of a disputed 978-sq-metre civic plot in Tandalja to former India cricketer and ex-Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Yusuf Pathan, seeking a probe into its legality, transparency and public interest implications.Through an objection letter submitted on Wednesday, Shrivastav urged the authorities to examine the legal basis for the fresh approval, particularly in view of the earlier rejection of the proposal and related judicial proceedings. She also sought scrutiny of the land’s valuation, concessions offered, compliance with govt rules and whether public auction or open bidding had been considered. The state govt has approved a proposal to gift 500 sq metres of the plot to Pathan for residential use and allot the remaining 478 sq metres at 55% of the assessed valuation, effectively offering a 45% concession on the latter portion. The plot, under Town Planning Scheme 22, Final Plot 90, has an estimated market value of Rs 20.53 crore.
