Vasco: Cortalim MLA Antonio Vas on Friday urged health authorities to take immediate action against sewage overflowing in the open along the national highway near Verna hill in Quelossim.Vas conducted a joint site inspection with health officials and members of the Quelossim panchayat. During the visit, it was observed that sewage was flowing from housing complexes located on the hill behind the Toyota showroom and draining onto the Margao–Panaji highway, causing a stench and posing a health risk to commuters.“Despite repeated complaints, the health authorities have failed to act. Their inaction has allowed these housing complexes to continue releasing sewage in the open, while local elected representatives are being blamed,” Vas said. With the issue remaining unresolved for several years, Vas demanded urgent corrective measures to stop the discharge and prevent further environmental damage and public health hazards.
