Pune: Corporators from the city’s Aundh-Bopodi area have urged civic chief Naval Kishore Ram to expedite ongoing infrastructure and development projects in their wards.A joint meeting and inspection drive was held in the Aundh-Bopodi area on Tuesday by the civic chief, along with local corporators. Deputy mayor Parashuram Wadekar, who led the delegation, said the inspection concluded on a positive note, with Ram directing officials to prepare concrete plans to complete the pending infrastructure works.“Regular review meetings will be held under the guidance of the civic chief to follow up on these issues with the civic authorities,” Wadekar said.Local corporators Sunny Nimhan, Sapna Chhajed, and Bhakti Gaikwad were also present during the inspection.Corporators noted that several projects have been progressing slowly due to various hurdles and urged civic authorities to resolve these issues on priority. The inspection covered sports stadiums, the proposed site for a civic garden, overhead water tanks, and a study centre. Wadekar said Aundh and Bopodi are rapidly developing areas with slum pockets and densely populated localities. “The region serves as a key link between PMC and PCMC areas but has not received adequate attention, resulting in delays in development works. So, we requested the civic chief to personally inspect the area,” he added.Civic officials also reviewed the proposed civic garden in Bopodi, which is expected to be finalised soon. Other projects discussed during the visit included improving water supply, completing water distribution lines from newly constructed overhead storage tanks, finishing pending work at the hockey stadium, expediting work on Vipasana Vihar, and completing the remaining work on the study centre and library.Residents of the area have raised concerns about frequent traffic congestion at Ambedkar Chowk, the Khadki Road stretch, and Bhau Patil Road. They also called for improved safety and security measures in the area.
