T’puram: The city corporation has suspended a bill collector for allegedly creating fake receipts using a computer and committing irregularities in revenue collection.The suspension order, issued by mayor V V Rajesh on Wednesday, identified the employee as Anto Joseph C J, who was working as a bill collector in the Punnakkamugal ward.According to the order, a preliminary inquiry based on information received from the corporation’s revenue wing found that Joseph had allegedly used fake receipts to commit irregularities. Copies of the allegedly fake receipts produced by complainants were found on a computer previously used by him, the order said.The preliminary inquiry also found that the files were in an edited PDF format. It was suspected that the relevant receipts had been edited and fabricated using a PDF editing application, the order said.The corporation said the findings were based on a report submitted by the senior technical officer on Thursday. Considering the alleged lapses in the discharge of official duties, Joseph has been suspended with immediate effect pending a detailed inquiry under the Kerala Municipality (Control over Officers) Rules, the order said.He will be eligible for subsistence allowance as per rules during the suspension period.
