Jaipur: In the placement season for 2025-26, core engineering branches at Malviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT) Jaipur emerged as top choice for recruiters.Officials said that among all branches, the department of mechanical engineering saw a placement rate of 96.4% and 22 core companies recruited students from the department, offering opportunities to nearly 75% of registered candidates, while the remaining students secured positions in reputed non-core and multidisciplinary organisations.Other branches like civil engineering, electrical engineering, chemical engineering, metallurgical and materials engineering, and related core disciplines also witnessed “exceptional placement performance.”Officials said that these figures show a strong demand for students from core engineering backgrounds. Major recruiters from manufacturing, infrastructure, energy, automotive, heavy engineering, electronics and public sector enterprises actively participated in the campus recruitment process.Prof N P Padhy, director at MNIT Jaipur, said, “We need to stick to our own MSMEs or local industries while working towards the goal of Viksit Bharat and this can be done by putting out the best graduates to them. There is a notion that IT is the only market where job is available, which is not true today. By doing so, good graduates are losing interest in core engineering now.”“Many good graduates get into IT sector and cannot make a good career. We have noticed that students leave a good institution for a branch of their choice. My suggestion to students is to choose an institution that delivers good engineering over a good branch. In the past it was true that IT sector had job opportunity, but the industry demands are changing now,” added Prof Padhy. He said that students should keep these factors in mind while choosing a branch for their course for the upcoming 2026-27 academic session. In 2025-26, the department for Mechanical Engineering at MNIT Jaipur recorded the highest package of Rs 23.85 lakh per annum and an average package of Rs 10.56 lakh per annum. Organisations including HPCL, BPCL, BEL, Maruti Suzuki, Bajaj Auto, Honda Motorcycles, JCB, Cummins India, Schneider Electric, JSW, Vedanta Ltd, Siemens Energy and several other companies participated in the recruitment drive across different engineering branches.
