Mapusa: Colvale police filed an FIR against unidentified persons for extracting and storing sand at Camurlim, Bardez.The action followed a site inspection on Wednesday morning by geologist Omkar R Naik Gaonkar from the directorate of mines and geology, accompanied by local police.During the raid at properties bearing survey numbers 130/0 and 131/0, authorities seized 40 cubic metres of illegally extracted sand worth Rs 52,000, stacked without valid permits.The police have registered an offence under section 303(2) of BNS 2023, along with sections 3 and 38 of the Goa, Daman and Diu Minor Mineral Concession Rules, 1985. PSI Vishnu Jadhav is investigating the case.
