Nagpur: Police teams equipped with decibel meters have begun visiting Dahi Handi venues to collect sound samples and control readings for future assessment, as part of enforcement of the restrictions on high-decibel sound systems.Nagpur city police have also deployed a layered security plan, with an SRPF company and Riot Control Police commandos stationed across 54 venues. CP Vishwas Nangre Patil and Joint CP Navinchandra Reddy are personally monitoring deployments at sensitive locations.Officers are in regular touch with organisers and DJ operators, persuading many to voluntarily scale down their sound systems. No FIR was registered on the second day of the clampdown, which police said indicated that the softer approach was working.
