Chandrapur: A police chase unfolded on Tuesday after a truck allegedly carrying 35 cattle illegally tried to evade a blockade in Padoli, leading to the arrest of its driver and cleaner and seizure of property worth ₹22.35 lakh.Acting on a tip-off, the Chandrapur Local Crime Branch team set up a blockade in the Padoli police station limits on Tuesday. When officers signalled a 10-wheeler Tata truck (MH 31 CV 0817) to stop, the driver allegedly accelerated towards Bhadrawati instead of complying.The police team immediately gave chase, following the truck until it was intercepted near the Power Grid substation at Old Sumthana in Bhadrawati.A search of the vehicle revealed 35 cattle—31 cows and four bulls—being allegedly transported illegally. Police detained driver Bhushan Omkar Tarare (24), from Azadnagar, Kamptee, Nagpur, and cleaner Syed Jasin Syed Aslam (33), from Tajbagh Chowk, Nagpur.The truck, cattle and two mobile phones were seized. Police said two other suspects, Rakeshkumar Yavakram Tekam and Mohsin, are wanted.A case has been registered at Bhadrawati police station under relevant provisions of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, Maharashtra Animal Preservation Act and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Further investigation is underway.
