Prayagraj: Kaushambi police on Friday claimed to have busted an inter-state racket involving fraudulent marriages and trafficking, arresting five accused on the charges of trafficking of a minor girl and forcing her marriage.Police said that a man on Mar 25 approached Kokhraj police, complaining that his daughter, who left the house to appear for her high school exam, didn’t return. Police registered an FIR under section 137(2) of BNS and carried out investigations.Police said that they traced the girl to Kasganj on Apr 22 and conducted the medical examination. She told police that the accused took her to a hotel and raped her. She was later sold and her marriage was solemnised with an elderly man. Thereafter, police arrested five persons, including Sumit Kumar, Anuradha, Manju alias Phulmati, Shahrukh Hussain and Anshu Jatav, residents of Kasganj, Etah and Mainpur respectively. Police also seized seven mobiles and Rs 13,510 in cash from their possession.After the arrest, the miscreants said that the girl left her house on Mar 25 after getting annoyed with her family members and met a man named Anshu at Kanpur Central railway station. The girl was sold for Rs 70,000 and later her marriage was solemnised with Sumit.
